Yasser Arafat

Yasser Arafat was a Palestinian leader who served as chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization from 1969 until his death in 2004.

He became the international face of Palestinian nationalism and the struggle for statehood, sharing the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize with Israeli leaders Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres for the Oslo Accords.

His legacy remains deeply contested—viewed as a freedom fighter by supporters and a terrorist by critics.
