Zionism
Homeland restoration movement
Zionism is the movement advocating for a Jewish homeland in the historical region of Palestine, culminating in the establishment of Israel in 1948.
The term now encompasses support for Israel's continued existence as a Jewish state.
Critics use Zionist to characterize Israeli policies they oppose, while supporters see it as affirming Jewish self-determination: She identifies as a Zionist.
The word carries sharply different connotations depending on political perspective.
