Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Levantine territorial struggle
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the ongoing dispute between Israelis and Palestinians over territory, sovereignty, and national identity in the region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
Rooted in competing claims to the same land, it has produced wars, uprisings (intifadas), peace negotiations, and persistent violence since the mid-20th century.
The conflict centers on issues including borders, the status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements, Palestinian statehood, and the rights of refugees displaced in 1948.
