West Bank

Disputed Middle Eastern region

The West Bank is a landlocked territory in the Middle East, bordered by Israel and Jordan.

It takes its name from its position west of the Jordan River.

Captured by Israel from Jordan in the 1967 war, it remains contested, with Palestinians seeking it as part of a future state while Israeli settlements have expanded throughout.

The conflict over the West Bank shows no sign of resolution.
