exile
Barred from homeland
Exile is forced separation from one's home or country, usually as punishment or for political reasons.
A person in this state is also called an exile: The poet spent years as an exile in Paris.
To exile someone is to banish them.
The word extends to any prolonged, unwilling absence: a self-imposed exile from social media.
Exile carries connotations of loss and longing that mere absence does not.
