Gulf War
Kuwait liberation conflict
The Gulf War refers to the 1990–1991 conflict in which a U.S.-led coalition of over 30 nations expelled Iraqi forces from Kuwait after Saddam Hussein's invasion.
Also called the Persian Gulf War or Operation Desert Storm, it featured extensive air bombardment followed by a brief ground campaign.
The term sometimes causes confusion because a later conflict, the 2003 Iraq War, is occasionally called the Second Gulf War.
