Gaza
Contested Mediterranean strip
Gaza is a densely populated territory on the eastern Mediterranean coast, bounded by Israel and Egypt.
The Gaza Strip, as it's formally known, has been a flashpoint of Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades.
Since 2007, it has been governed by Hamas and subject to blockade.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated.
The name also refers to Gaza City, the territory's largest urban center.
