Gaza Strip
Mediterranean coastal territory
The Gaza Strip is a small, densely populated territory on the eastern Mediterranean coast, bordered by Israel and Egypt.
Home to over two million Palestinians, it has been a focal point of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Hamas has governed the territory since 2007, and Israel has maintained a blockade restricting movement and goods.
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has deteriorated dramatically.
