Arabic

Script read rightward

Arabic is the Semitic language spoken across the Middle East and North Africa, the liturgical language of Islam, and one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.

Arabic script, written right to left, is also used for Persian, Urdu, and other languages.

As an adjective, Arabic describes things relating to the language or Arab peoples: Arabic poetry, Arabic numerals—the digits 0-9 that replaced Roman numerals in Western mathematics.
