Iran Deal
Obama's diplomatic legacy
The Iran Deal, formally the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was a 2015 agreement between Iran and six world powers—the U.S., UK, France, Germany, Russia, and China—limiting Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
The U.S. withdrew in 2018 under the Trump administration, and the term often surfaces in debates over nonproliferation policy and Middle East diplomacy: The Iran Deal was supposed to prevent them from developing nuclear weapons.
