mudflow
Wet slope avalanche
A mudflow is a fast-moving mass of mud, water, and debris flowing downhill, often triggered by heavy rain, volcanic activity, or rapid snowmelt.
Mudflows can carry boulders and destroy structures in their path: The mudflow buried several homes after the wildfire stripped the hillside of vegetation.
Volcanic mudflows are sometimes called lahars.
