Triton
Poseidon's merman son
In Greek mythology, Triton is a merman deity, son of Poseidon, who carries a conch shell trumpet to calm or stir the seas.
The name extends to Neptune's largest moon, discovered in 1846, notable for its retrograde orbit and nitrogen geysers.
Triton orbits Neptune in the opposite direction of the planet's rotation. (Lowercase triton is a sea snail or salamander.)
