Kilauea

Big Island erupter

Kilauea is an active shield volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii, one of the most continuously active volcanoes on Earth.

It lies within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and has shaped much of the island's southeastern landscape through ongoing eruptions.

The name comes from Hawaiian, roughly meaning "spewing" or "spreading."
