Io

Jupiter's fiery moon

Io is the innermost of Jupiter's four large moons, discovered by Galileo in 1610.

It is the most volcanically active body in the solar system, its surface constantly reshaped by eruptions.

In Greek mythology, Io was a priestess of Hera whom Zeus transformed into a heifer to hide their affair from his jealous wife.
