continent
Earth's large division
A continent is one of the large continuous landmasses that make up most of Earth's dry land—traditionally counted as seven: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America.
The boundaries between continents are somewhat arbitrary, following convention rather than strict geological criteria.
As an adjective, continent means exercising self-restraint, particularly regarding bodily functions or sexual urges: The patient was continent and ambulatory.
The opposite, incontinent, is more commonly encountered.
