Northernmost icy waters
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and shallowest of the world's five oceans, located around the North Pole and largely covered by sea ice.
It is bordered by northern Russia, Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Scandinavia.
Climate change is causing Arctic Ocean ice to retreat at unprecedented rates.
