South Pole
Earth's southern terminus
The South Pole is the southernmost point on Earth, where all lines of longitude converge in Antarctica.
It marks one end of Earth's axis of rotation.
The term extends to magnetic south poles and the southern poles of other celestial bodies.
Figuratively, opposite extremes are sometimes called poles: They're at opposite poles politically.
