mapping
Showing spatial connections
A mapping is a correspondence between elements in one set and elements in another—each input matched to an output.
The term appears in mathematics, computing, and genetics: a mapping of genes on a chromosome, keyboard mappings.
More loosely, mapping means charting or surveying: a mapping of the ocean floor.
To do a mapping is to map.
