Antarctic Circle
Polar latitude south
The Antarctic Circle is the parallel of latitude at approximately 66.5° south, marking the boundary of the Antarctic region.
South of this line, the sun remains continuously above the horizon for at least one day during summer solstice and continuously below it for at least one day during winter solstice.
Few research stations operate south of the Antarctic Circle.
