Ice-breaking Arctic giant
A bowhead whale is a large Arctic whale with an enormous head—roughly a third of its body length—and a distinctive arched upper jaw.
Bowheads lack a dorsal fin and can break through ice to breathe.
They are among the longest-lived mammals, with some individuals exceeding two hundred years.
