South Pacific
Island-studded warm waters
The South Pacific is the region of the Pacific Ocean lying south of the equator, encompassing thousands of islands scattered across Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia.
The term evokes images of tropical paradise, remote atolls, and distinct indigenous cultures.
It gained additional cultural resonance from the 1949 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical *South Pacific*, set during World War II.
They spent their honeymoon island-hopping through the South Pacific.
