seas
Waters between continents
Seas is the plural of sea—large bodies of saltwater, smaller or more enclosed than oceans: the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas.
The phrase the seven seas traditionally means all the world's oceans.
The high seas refers to international waters beyond any nation's jurisdiction.
Figuratively, seas suggests vast quantities: seas of people, seas of grass.
