ribs
Cage of bones
Ribs are the curved bones that form a protective cage around the chest, enclosing the heart and lungs.
The word extends to rib-shaped structures: the ribs of an umbrella, a ship's hull, or a knitted fabric.
A rack or cut of ribs includes the meat between them: barbecued ribs, prime rib.
To rib someone is to tease them good-naturedly: His friends ribbed him about his new haircut.
