carvel
Flush-planked boat construction
Carvel is a method of boatbuilding where planks are laid edge to edge to form a smooth hull, as opposed to clinker-built boats where planks overlap.
The term also refers to a boat built this way: a carvel-built fishing vessel.
The technique produces a sleeker surface that moves more efficiently through water.
