Central thorax bone
The breastbone is the flat bone running vertically down the center of the chest, connecting the ribs in front.
Anatomists call it the sternum.
It protects the heart and lungs and serves as an anchor point for chest muscles.
In poultry, the breastbone is the wishbone's partner—the long bone you carve around.
