tibia

Inner calf bone

The tibia is the larger of the two bones in the lower leg, running from the knee to the ankle on the inner side.

Commonly called the shinbone, it bears most of the body's weight and forms the bony prominence you can feel at the front of your leg.

She bruised her tibia playing soccer.

In insects and other arthropods, the tibia is the fourth segment of the leg, between the femur and tarsus.
