planking

Wooden surface strips

Planking refers to wooden boards used as building material, or the act of installing them: The deck's planking needs to be replaced.

In exercise, planking is holding a rigid, face-down position supported only by forearms and toes—the plank position strengthens core muscles.

Around 2011, planking was briefly an internet trend where people photographed themselves lying stiff as a board in unusual public locations.
