nave
Church's central hall
The nave is the central area of a church where the congregation sits, typically a long hall extending from the entrance toward the altar.
It's flanked by aisles or side chapels and usually the largest space in the building: Light streamed through the stained glass windows into the nave.
Separately, a nave is the hub of a wheel—the central block through which the axle passes.
