propeller

Boat thrust maker

A propeller is a device with rotating blades that pushes air or water to create thrust, moving boats, aircraft, or other vehicles forward.

The blades are angled so that as they spin, they push fluid backward, propelling the craft in the opposite direction.

Propellers range from small outboard motor props to massive ship screws to the twin props on a turboprop aircraft.

Someone who propels something may also be called a propeller, though this use is rare.
