turntable

Platform beneath records

A turntable is a circular rotating platform.

The term most commonly refers to the platter on a record player that spins vinyl records: She placed the LP on the turntable.

DJs use turntables to mix and scratch records.

The word also applies to rotating platforms for trains, vehicles, or display items, allowing them to be turned around or repositioned.
