motor
Powers a vehicle
Motor refers to a machine that converts energy into mechanical force and motion, powering everything from cars to appliances.
The word comes from Latin for "mover," and this sense of causing movement extends beyond machinery: motor skills involve coordinated physical movement, and to motor somewhere is to travel by car.
As an adjective, motor describes things relating to engines or vehicles (motor oil, motor vehicle) or to muscular movement (motor neurons).
