lesions
Damaged tissue areas
Lesions are areas of abnormal tissue caused by injury or disease.
The term appears frequently in medical contexts—skin lesions, brain lesions, spinal lesions—describing damage visible through examination or imaging: The MRI revealed several lesions in the white matter.
A lesion can be anything from a minor skin wound to a tumor or area of internal scarring.
