macule
Flat discolored patch
A macule is a small, flat, discolored spot on the skin that isn't raised or depressed—freckles, flat moles, and the spots of measles are macules.
The term is primarily medical, distinguishing flat spots from raised ones (papules) or fluid-filled ones (vesicles).
In printing, macule refers to a blurred or double impression, or waste sheets used for packing.
