gash
Severe tissue tear
A gash is a long, deep cut or wound, typically jagged or ragged rather than clean: The fall left a nasty gash on his forehead.
The word extends to similar cuts in materials: a gash in the leather seat.
As a verb, to gash is to make such a cut: He gashed his knee on the rocks.
In British slang, gash is vulgar for female genitalia, and by extension, a crude term for women generally.
