acne
Puberty's facial plague
Acne is a skin condition characterized by pimples, blackheads, and inflamed spots, typically on the face, back, and chest.
It occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, and is most common during adolescence when hormonal changes increase oil production.
Her acne cleared up after she turned twenty.
The term also applies to similar eruptions in adults, sometimes called adult acne.
