World War 2
Hitler's global conflict
World War 2 was the global military conflict fought from 1939 to 1945, pitting the Allied powers (primarily Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States) against the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan).
The deadliest war in human history, it killed an estimated 70-85 million people, including the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust.
Usually styled World War II or WWII; also called the Second World War.
