survivors
Those who endured
Survivors are people who continue living after an event that killed others or threatened their own lives.
The word applies to those who outlast disasters, accidents, wars, or diseases: Holocaust survivors, cancer survivors, the sole survivor of the crash.
It extends to those who endure difficult circumstances: survivors of abuse.
In legal contexts, survivors are family members who outlive a deceased person, especially regarding inheritance or benefits.
