tide
Lunar pull's effect
Tide is the regular rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun.
High tide brings water up the shore; low tide exposes what was submerged.
The word extends to any powerful flow or shift: a rising tide of discontent, the tide of battle turned.
To tide someone over is to help them through a difficult period: This loan should tide you over until payday.
