turning
Rotating on axis
Turning is the act of rotating, changing direction, or shifting position.
A turning in the road is a bend or junction where one can change course; in British usage, it specifically means a side street or path branching off: Take the second turning on the left.
The word also describes a pivotal moment or shift: a turning in the conversation.
Turnings are the waste shavings produced when shaping wood or metal on a lathe.
