order
Request for delivery
One group of meanings of the noun and verb order involves the idea of a request for action that carries authority.
When you order someone to do something, you request that they do it by virtue of your authority over them.
When you order a product, whether a hamburger at a drive-in or a new computer from an online store, you are requesting that it be delivered to you.
An order is the process of ordering something, or the content of it: Have you received all of your order?
Order also means to put into a systematic arrangement, and order, as an uncountable noun, is the state of being so arranged.
Order is also the desirable state of being arranged in an optimal way: law and order, the order of nature.
