catalog

Organized item register

A catalog is a systematic list or record of items, typically organized for easy reference.

Libraries maintain catalogs of their holdings; retailers publish catalogs displaying merchandise available for purchase.

The verb catalog means to create such a list or to add items to one: She spent the afternoon cataloging her vinyl collection.

In extended use, catalog can describe any comprehensive enumeration: a catalog of complaints.

The spelling catalogue, with the silent -ue ending, is preferred in British English.
