numbers

Zero through nine

Numbers are quantities or amounts—the basic units of counting and measuring.

In everyday use, numbers often means statistical data: The numbers don't look good for the campaign.

To do a number on something is to damage or affect it severely.

A number is also a musical selection or performance piece: She sang a few numbers from the show.

To have someone's number is to understand their true character or motives. (Capitalized Numbers is the biblical book.)
