queue

First come, first-served

A queue is a line of people or things waiting in order: Join the queue at the back.

More common in British than American English, where line predominates.

In computing, a queue is a data structure where items are processed in the order they arrive—first in, first out.

The verb means to form or join such a line: We queued for tickets, or to add items to a waiting list: The songs are queued up to play.
