conduct
How one behaves
Conduct as a noun (first syllable stressed) is a near synonym of behavior and usually includes the idea of propriety: The teachers received compliments on the conduct of the schoolchildren.
When used as a verb (second syllable stressed), conduct has meanings that all involve the idea of leadership.
If you conduct an orchestra or choir you lead it when it rehearses or performs.
If you conduct an investigation, you carry it out, either alone or in a leadership role.
When no agent is identified, conduct just means carry out: a study was conducted to determine how many trees were infected.
