level
Carpenter's bubble tool
The level of some measurable quality is its location on a scale (blood sugar level).
The various meanings of level, verb and adjective, usually contain the notion of being either equal or horizontal.
If something is level, it is roughly horizontal and probably stable: The table is level.
If two things are level with each other, they are in the same horizontal plane, or equal in some respect.
When you level something, you make it flat, even, or equal.
When you level with someone, you tell them the unvarnished truth.
