Time-based workplace standing
Seniority is status earned through length of service or time in a position.
In workplaces, seniority often determines privileges like scheduling preferences, promotion eligibility, or layoff order: She had enough seniority to pick her vacation weeks first.
More broadly, seniority can mean simply being older or more established: He pulled rank based on seniority.
