impeller

Fluid-moving blade wheel

An impeller is a rotating component with blades or vanes that moves fluid by spinning.

Found in pumps, turbines, and jet engines, impellers push water, air, or other fluids outward or forward: The boat's impeller needs replacing.

Distinguished from propellers, which pull fluid past stationary blades, impellers work within enclosed housings.
