inboard motor
Boat's internal engine
An inboard motor is a boat engine mounted inside the hull rather than hanging off the stern.
The motor connects to a propeller through a drive shaft that passes through the bottom of the boat.
Inboard motors offer better weight distribution and a lower center of gravity than outboard motors, making them common in larger vessels and ski boats: The inboard motor kept the stern clear for water skiing.
