RPM
Turns per minute
RPM stands for revolutions per minute, a unit measuring rotational speed.
In automotive contexts, higher RPM means the engine is working harder: Don't redline the RPM.
The abbreviation also appears in industrial machinery specifications and audio equipment. (Lowercase rpm is the same abbreviation, often preferred in technical writing.)
