hose

Flexible water conduit

Hose is a flexible tube for conveying water or other fluids: garden hose, fire hose.

To hose something is to spray it with water: He hosed down the driveway.

In slang, to hose someone is to cheat or defeat them badly: We got hosed on that deal.

Hose also means stockings or tights, from the old sense of a leg covering—still seen in pantyhose and in period costumes where men wear hose.
